ThinkForge Terms of Service
Last Updated: May 12, 2026
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of:
ThinkForge Desktop — a one-time-purchase desktop application ThinkForge Chat — a free Chrome extension thinkforge.app — our website and account services
These products are provided by ThinkForge LLC ("ThinkForge," "we," "us," "our"). By installing, accessing, or using any of them, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the products.
1. Eligibility and Accounts
You must be at least 13 years old to use ThinkForge. To purchase a Desktop license or to unlock additional capacity in the Chrome extension, you must create an account using a valid email address.
You are responsible for:
• Keeping your account credentials confidential • All activity that occurs under your account • Notifying us promptly at [email protected] of any unauthorized use • Keeping your account information accurate
One account is shared across ThinkForge Desktop and the Chrome extension.
2. License Grant — ThinkForge Desktop
When you purchase ThinkForge Desktop, ThinkForge LLC grants you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, non-sublicensable license to install and use the software, subject to these Terms.
What your license includes:
• Installation and use on devices you own or control, for personal or commercial purposes • All updates released within the major version you purchased (for example, if you purchase version 1.x, you receive all 1.x updates at no additional cost) • The right to continue using your purchased version indefinitely, subject to these Terms
What your license does not include:
• Future major versions (e.g., a 2.x release), which may require a separate purchase or upgrade fee • The right to transfer, resell, sublicense, lease, or otherwise assign your license to another person or entity • The right to share license credentials across an unlimited number of devices (we perform periodic device checks to enforce this)
You may not:
• Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the software, except to the extent applicable law expressly permits • Remove or alter copyright, trademark, or other proprietary notices • Redistribute, repackage, or resell the software • Use the software to develop a competing product • Use the software for any illegal purpose
3. License Grant — ThinkForge Chat (Chrome Extension)
The ThinkForge Chat Chrome extension is provided free of charge. ThinkForge LLC grants you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to install and use it, subject to these Terms and the Chrome Web Store's terms.
Signing into your ThinkForge account within the extension unlocks additional capacity. The extension may be discontinued, modified, or limited at our discretion at any time.
4. Free Trial
ThinkForge Desktop is available with a 30-day free trial. During the trial, you may use the software's full features without payment. At the end of the trial, you must purchase a license to continue using the Desktop application.
No payment information is required to start the trial. We do not auto-charge at the end of the trial.
5. Payment and Pricing
ThinkForge Desktop is a one-time purchase. There is no subscription and no recurring billing.
• Payments are processed by Lemon Squeezy, who acts as the merchant of record and handles applicable sales tax and VAT. • Pricing is displayed at the time of purchase. We may change prices for new purchases at any time, but changes do not affect licenses already purchased. • Your purchase covers the major version you bought and all updates within that major version.
The Chrome extension is free.
6. Refunds
ThinkForge Desktop is sold as a one-time license with a 30-day free trial that lets you fully evaluate the product before purchase. All sales are final and non-refundable, except:
• Where Lemon Squeezy, acting as merchant of record, issues a refund at its discretion or under its own policies • Where required by applicable consumer protection law
Refund requests should be directed to [email protected].
7. Your Content
You retain all rights to the content you create, upload, or store using ThinkForge — projects, notes, conversations, mind maps, files, and any other user-generated content ("Your Content").
ThinkForge Desktop stores Your Content locally on your device. The Chrome extension stores its content in your browser's local storage. We do not receive, host, or have access to Your Content.
Because we do not store Your Content on our servers, you are solely responsible for backing it up. We are not liable for any loss of Your Content from your device or browser.
You are responsible for ensuring you have the rights to all content you process through ThinkForge and that your use complies with applicable law.
8. AI Services (Bring Your Own Key)
ThinkForge integrates with third-party AI providers using a bring-your-own-key (BYOK) model:
• You are responsible for obtaining and maintaining your own accounts and API keys with AI providers (OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, OpenRouter, etc.) • AI provider terms, pricing, and policies apply to your use of their services • Your prompts and responses travel directly between your device and the AI provider; ThinkForge servers are not in that path • We are not responsible for AI provider actions, outages, pricing changes, content moderation decisions, or output quality • AI-generated content may be inaccurate, incomplete, or misleading. You are responsible for reviewing and verifying any AI output before relying on it
9. Prohibited Uses
You may not use ThinkForge to:
• Violate any law, regulation, or third-party right • Infringe intellectual property rights • Transmit malware, viruses, or other harmful code • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to our systems or other users' accounts • Circumvent license enforcement, device checks, or authentication • Harass, abuse, defame, or harm any person • Generate or distribute content that is illegal, harmful, deceptive, or that violates an AI provider's policies • Scrape, mine, or otherwise extract data from our services • Use the software to develop, train, or improve a competing product
10. Intellectual Property
ThinkForge, the ThinkForge name and logo, the software, the website, and all original content, features, and functionality are owned by ThinkForge LLC and are protected by United States and international copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws.
Nothing in these Terms grants you any right, title, or interest in our intellectual property other than the limited licenses expressly granted in Sections 2 and 3.
11. Account Verification and License Enforcement
ThinkForge Desktop performs a periodic license check (approximately monthly) to verify your purchase. This requires an internet connection. The check transmits your license key, account email, and a device identifier. If verification repeatedly fails — for example, due to license sharing across multiple devices, a refunded or charged-back purchase, or account suspension — the software may stop functioning until the issue is resolved.
We do this to prevent license abuse, not to surveil your use. See our Privacy Policy for details.
12. Service Availability
We do not guarantee uninterrupted availability of our website, authentication services, or license verification servers. We may perform scheduled or emergency maintenance, and outages may occur due to circumstances beyond our control.
Because ThinkForge Desktop operates locally on your device, brief outages of our verification servers will not immediately interrupt your work. Extended outages may eventually affect license validation.
13. Termination
By you: You may stop using ThinkForge at any time and may request account deletion by emailing [email protected]. Deleting your account does not delete content stored locally on your device; you must remove that yourself.
By us: We may, at our sole discretion and without prior notice, suspend or terminate your account and revoke all licenses granted under these Terms, including your ThinkForge Desktop license, if you:
• Violate these Terms • Engage in fraudulent activity, including payment fraud, chargebacks, or license sharing • Attempt to circumvent license enforcement or security measures • Use the software in a manner that harms us, our users, or third parties • Fail to comply with applicable law
Consequences of termination for cause:
• Your right to use ThinkForge Desktop and the Chrome extension ends immediately • License verification will fail, and the Desktop software will cease functioning • We may retain records as needed for legal, accounting, or fraud-prevention purposes • No refunds will be issued for termination due to your violation of these Terms • Sections that by their nature should survive termination will survive, including Sections 7 (Your Content responsibility), 10 (IP), 14 (Disclaimers), 15 (Limitation of Liability), 16 (Indemnification), and 18 (Governing Law)
14. Disclaimers
THINKFORGE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION:
• WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY • FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE • NON-INFRINGEMENT • ACCURACY OR RELIABILITY OF RESULTS • UNINTERRUPTED OR ERROR-FREE OPERATION • ACCURACY OF AI-GENERATED CONTENT
You use ThinkForge at your own risk. You are responsible for backing up Your Content and for verifying any output generated through AI features.
15. Limitation of Liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, THINKFORGE LLC AND ITS OFFICERS, MEMBERS, EMPLOYEES, AND AGENTS SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR:
• ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES • LOSS OF PROFITS, REVENUE, DATA, GOODWILL, OR BUSINESS OPPORTUNITIES • LOSS OR CORRUPTION OF YOUR CONTENT, WHETHER STORED ON YOUR DEVICE OR ELSEWHERE • SERVICE INTERRUPTIONS, OUTAGES, OR FAILURES OF LICENSE VERIFICATION • ACTS, OMISSIONS, CONTENT, OR DECISIONS OF THIRD-PARTY AI PROVIDERS OR OTHER THIRD PARTIES
OUR TOTAL CUMULATIVE LIABILITY FOR ALL CLAIMS ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO THESE TERMS OR YOUR USE OF THINKFORGE SHALL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU ACTUALLY PAID TO THINKFORGE LLC IN THE TWELVE (12) MONTHS PRECEDING THE EVENT GIVING RISE TO THE CLAIM, OR ONE HUNDRED U.S. DOLLARS ($100), WHICHEVER IS GREATER.
Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion or limitation of certain damages, so some of the above may not apply to you.
16. Indemnification
You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless ThinkForge LLC and its officers, members, employees, and agents from any claim, demand, loss, or expense (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising out of:
• Your use or misuse of ThinkForge • Your violation of these Terms • Your violation of any law or any third-party right • Your Content or any content you process through ThinkForge
17. Changes to These Terms
We may modify these Terms at any time. When we do, we'll update the "Last Updated" date above and post the revised Terms on this page. For material changes, we will provide reasonable advance notice (such as by email to account holders or an in-app notice) before the changes take effect.
Continued use of ThinkForge after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms. If you do not agree to the revised Terms, you must stop using the products.
18. Governing Law and Disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Wisconsin, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles. Any dispute arising out of or related to these Terms or your use of ThinkForge shall be resolved exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Wisconsin, and you consent to the personal jurisdiction of those courts.
If you are a consumer in a jurisdiction whose law provides you mandatory rights that cannot be waived, nothing in this section overrides those rights.
19. Miscellaneous
Entire agreement. These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and ThinkForge LLC regarding the products.
Severability. If any provision is held unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in full effect.
No waiver. Our failure to enforce any provision is not a waiver of that provision.
Assignment. You may not assign these Terms. We may assign them in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.
