ThinkForge Terms of Use
Last Updated: October 14, 2026
These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern ThinkForge Desktop version 1, the ThinkForge browser extensions, and the website and account services at thinkforge.app (together, the "Products").
ThinkForge is the business name under which the Products are provided from Wisconsin, United States. "ThinkForge," "we," "us," and "our" mean the business operator providing the Products under that name. "You" means the person using a Product or purchasing a license.
Questions about these Terms, licensing, purchases, or privacy requests can be sent to [email protected].
1. Acceptance and eligibility
The Products are offered subject to these Terms. You accept them when you select an agreement checkbox, choose an expressly identified acceptance button, or take another affirmative action that is clearly presented as agreement to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not install or use the Products or complete a purchase.
You must be at least 13 years old to use the Products. If you are below the age at which you can enter a binding agreement where you live, you may use the Products only with the permission and supervision of a parent or legal guardian who agrees to these Terms. A purchase must be made by someone with legal capacity to enter the purchase agreement. A parent or guardian who agrees on a minor's behalf is responsible for that minor's use to the extent permitted by law.
The Products are intended for general productivity use. Availability may depend on your location, applicable law, and the requirements of the payment provider or distribution platform.
2. Accounts and account security
An account is required for the account stage of the Desktop trial, purchase and activation of a Desktop license, and features that expressly require sign-in. Use an accurate email address that you control and keep your account information current.
Keep your credentials confidential. Do not share your account or paid license with another user. You are responsible for activity you authorize through your account and for taking reasonable steps to prevent unauthorized access. Contact [email protected] promptly if you suspect unauthorized access.
We may request reasonable evidence of account or purchase ownership before changing an account, restoring access, responding to a privacy request, or correcting a license assignment. Do not send passwords, API keys, or complete payment-card details to support.
3. Desktop version 1 license
Once payment is completed and the license is assigned to your account, we grant you a personal, non-exclusive license to install and use ThinkForge Desktop version 1, subject to these Terms. Your purchase grants a software license; it does not transfer ownership of the software or its intellectual property.
Each license covers Windows and Mac for one individual user on up to three active machines total that the user owns or is authorized to use. The three-machine limit is shared across both platforms in any combination; it is not three machines per platform. You may use the licensed application for personal work or for your own professional or commercial work. An employer-owned machine may occupy one of your three slots when you are authorized to use it; this does not give other employees access to your license.
The license does not cover multiple users, shared organizational credentials, pooled seats, or deployment for an organization under a single individual license. Contact [email protected] for organizational or multiple-user licensing.
Your purchase is a single payment for the right to continue using version 1 indefinitely, subject to these Terms. It includes version 1 updates that we release at no additional license charge. It does not require us to develop particular updates, add features, provide support forever, or maintain compatibility with every future operating system or third-party service.
Future major versions, such as version 2, are separate products and may require another purchase or an upgrade fee. Buying version 1 does not obligate you to buy a future major version.
You may keep copies of the installer and software for your own backup or archival purposes. Those copies do not authorize use by additional people or on more than three active machines. Preserve all required notices in any copy.
You may not transfer, resell, rent, sublicense, or share your individual license, except where applicable law gives you a right that cannot be restricted by this agreement. This restriction does not limit rights granted by a separate license for an open-source component or a future open-source release.
4. Machine activation and deactivation
You can manage active Desktop machines through your account on thinkforge.app. Deactivating a machine releases its license slot so you can activate another machine within the three-machine limit. Deactivation does not transfer the license to a different person.
A deactivated machine must be activated again before further licensed use. Status changes may take effect when the application next verifies the license. If you replace a computer, lose access to a machine, or cannot release a slot through the website, contact [email protected].
License verification uses information needed for account authentication and license administration, as described in the Privacy Policy. Do not bypass device limits, falsify activation information, or interfere with verification.
5. Desktop trial
The Desktop trial is up to 30 days: the first three days do not require an account, and a free ThinkForge account unlocks the remaining 27 days.
No payment details are required to start the trial. Creating an account does not authorize a purchase, and we do not automatically charge you when the trial ends. You must deliberately purchase a license to continue licensed Desktop use after the trial expires.
The trial is for your initial evaluation of the application. Reinstalling the application, changing machines, creating additional accounts, or changing an email address does not entitle you to repeat the trial. You may not manipulate trial records or identifiers to extend access.
Trial expiration can restrict application access. It does not transfer ownership of your content to us or authorize us to delete your ordinary local project files.
6. Pricing and payment
The Desktop license is a one-time purchase. It is not a subscription and does not create recurring Desktop license charges.
The price, currency, discounts, and applicable taxes are shown at checkout. We may change prices and offers for future purchases. A later price change does not change the amount already paid for your existing version 1 license.
For direct website purchases, Lemon Squeezy acts as merchant of record and administers the transaction, including payment processing and applicable tax handling. Its checkout terms and payment procedures also apply. Purchases through another authorized marketplace are subject to that marketplace's transaction rules and any terms disclosed for that purchase.
Third-party AI subscriptions, API usage, connected services, optional purchases, and future major-version upgrades are separate from the Desktop license price. A third party may charge you for its services.
7. Refunds
All purchases are final. ThinkForge does not offer voluntary refunds, including for purchases made during the trial.
This policy does not limit a refund or other remedy required by applicable law. Lemon Squeezy or an applicable marketplace may independently issue a refund or reversal under its own rules.
Any refund is processed through the seller or merchant of record to the original payment method, subject to its procedures. Related taxes are handled under its rules and applicable law. When a purchase is fully refunded or finally reversed, the paid license associated with that purchase ends. A partial refund or tax adjustment does not by itself end the paid license.
A good-faith payment dispute, privacy request, or exercise of a legal right is not by itself a violation of these Terms. Payment fraud and knowingly false claims are prohibited.
8. Browser extensions
ThinkForge browser extensions identified as free are available without a Desktop purchase. We grant you a non-exclusive license to use them in accordance with these Terms and the applicable browser-store rules. Features may have account requirements or capacity limits shown in the extension or its documentation.
We may change, limit, or discontinue free extension features and related free services. Where reasonably practicable, we will give advance notice of a material discontinuation so you can preserve locally stored content.
A Desktop version 1 purchase does not guarantee that a browser extension, browser-store listing, or third-party website integration will remain available indefinitely. Changes to free extensions do not remove your purchased Desktop version 1 license rights.
9. Your content and local storage
You retain whatever ownership and other rights you have in documents, notes, conversations, projects, images, recordings, code, and other material you use with the Products ("Your Content"). Using ThinkForge does not transfer ownership of Your Content to us.
Desktop project content is generally stored on your device, and browser-extension content is generally stored in the browser's local storage. An integration you enable may send selected content to an external client or service. Content you voluntarily send to support is handled as a support communication.
You are responsible for having permission to access, capture, process, and share Your Content, including content from websites, other applications, and third parties. The Products do not grant permission to bypass a third party's restrictions or infringe its rights.
Review changes before accepting them, and preserve copies before running operations that can modify or delete content. Uninstalling an application, clearing browser storage, losing a device, or using a third-party tool may affect local data.
10. Backups and data loss
You are responsible for maintaining current, separate backups of Your Content and for checking that those backups can be restored. ThinkForge is not an off-device backup or disaster-recovery service for Your Content. Your ThinkForge account and license records are not copies of your local projects or browser content.
Any autosave, local history, recovery file, cache, or additional copy a Product provides is a convenience and does not replace a separate backup. We do not promise that those features will preserve every change, prevent data loss, or recover a lost or damaged file.
Maintain appropriate backups before installing updates, importing or converting content, running tools or scripts, enabling an integration, or authorizing automated changes. Review the scope of actions that can change files, and use a test copy where appropriate.
The Products and connected tools can modify, overwrite, move, or delete data, including files outside a project when you grant that access. Software defects, interrupted saves, operating-system or device failures, browser-storage changes, and third-party actions can cause loss, corruption, or unavailability of data. We do not guarantee preservation or recovery of Your Content, and ordinary support does not include a guaranteed restoration or data-recovery service.
The data-loss exclusions and liability cap below apply only to the extent permitted by applicable law. This section does not remove a mandatory legal remedy or an express promise that forms part of your purchase.
11. External AI clients and your own API keys
ThinkForge supplies software integrations. A Desktop license does not provide an AI model, an AI provider account, an external client's subscription, or API usage credits.
You can connect an external AI client through ThinkForge's Model Context Protocol (MCP) integration or use a supported direct provider connection with your own API key. You are responsible for obtaining and maintaining the necessary third-party accounts, permissions, credentials, and subscriptions.
With an external MCP client, that client and its configured AI provider may receive the context you make available and may invoke supported ThinkForge operations. With a direct connection, selected prompts and context are sent to the provider you choose using your credentials. The provider or client may charge you for this activity and handles received data under its own terms and privacy practices.
ThinkForge's account and licensing servers do not provide or proxy your AI model service. Local storage of a project does not prevent an external AI client or provider from receiving context when you enable an integration or authorize a request.
Review what an integration can read, change, or execute before enabling it. Protect API keys and account permissions, use appropriate limits, and revoke access when you no longer want an integration to act on your behalf.
Third-party services may change their availability, supported features, prices, access rules, or policies. We do not control those services or guarantee their continued compatibility with the Products.
12. Tools and automated actions
Tools, agents, scripts, commands, and integrations may read or modify files, execute code, communicate with services, or take actions using permissions you provide. An action can incur a third-party charge or have an effect outside ThinkForge.
Review generated code, instructions, destinations, and proposed actions before authorizing them. An authorized agent, MCP client, script, or integration can overwrite or delete content and can act outside ThinkForge using the permissions you grant. Use permissions appropriate to the task and maintain backups or another recovery method for important work. Permission to access a system must come from its owner or another authorized person.
AI output and automated results can contain errors, omissions, inaccurate statements, unsafe instructions, or material that infringes another person's rights. Verify results before relying on them or distributing them. The Products do not provide professional legal, medical, financial, or other regulated advice.
13. Account closure and privacy requests
Our Privacy Policy explains the information needed for account authentication, license administration, and purchase records. These Terms do not replace that notice.
You do not need to delete your account when you stop using the application or when a trial ends.
Deleting your account is permanent. Once the account and licensing records are deleted, ThinkForge cannot service the account or verify its license, and access under that license ends. We will make this consequence clear before processing full account deletion.
To request full account deletion or exercise an applicable privacy right, contact [email protected]. We may take reasonable, proportionate steps to verify the request. Full account deletion is the standard account-removal process; requests required by applicable law will be handled as that law requires.
We may retain only limited records necessary for legal obligations, payment disputes, or the establishment or defense of legal claims, and only for as long as that purpose and applicable law permit. The Privacy Policy explains applicable retention periods, criteria, and backup treatment. We will explain an applicable exception if a legally required record cannot be deleted.
Account deletion does not delete files on your device, browser-local content, records held independently by a payment provider, or data already sent to an external service. You control removal of your local files and browser content.
Account deletion does not create a voluntary refund right, transfer your license to another person, or waive any remedy required by law.
14. Intellectual property and third-party components
The original ThinkForge software, website material, designs, and other original assets belong to the operator of ThinkForge, except for Your Content and material owned by third parties. These Terms grant only the rights expressly stated in them; other rights in our original material are reserved.
Copyright © 2026 ThinkForge. All rights reserved.
Third-party software, fonts, icons, models, grammars, and other components retain their original ownership and applicable licenses. Those licenses govern the relevant components and take precedence over these Terms to the extent of a conflict. Nothing here removes a right that an applicable open-source license grants you.
You may not remove required copyright, attribution, license, or proprietary notices. You may not copy, redistribute, sell, or repackage our proprietary software except as these Terms or applicable law permit. Reverse engineering, decompilation, and disassembly are restricted only to the extent permitted by law and do not override permissions under applicable third-party licenses.
Use of a third-party name or mark to identify an integration does not represent endorsement or a partnership. No trademark license is granted except as required for an expressly permitted use or by applicable law.
15. Prohibited conduct
You must not use the Products to violate applicable law or another person's rights; distribute malicious code; obtain unauthorized access to an account, device, file, or service; commit fraud; impersonate another person; or harass or unlawfully harm others.
You must not share an individual paid license between users, evade trial or machine limits, falsify licensing information, or circumvent access controls. This restriction does not prevent activities expressly permitted by applicable law or a separate open-source license.
Do not interfere with the operation or security of our website, account services, or licensing systems, or make abusive automated requests to those systems. These restrictions do not prohibit ordinary Product use, authorized local automation, or good-faith reporting of a suspected vulnerability.
Third-party provider policies apply to your use of those providers. Our Products do not grant an exception to their access restrictions or acceptable-use rules.
16. License verification and online services
Desktop activation and periodic license verification require an internet connection and, when applicable, sign-in to the licensed account. The application may verify access at startup, after account or machine changes, and periodically during use.
You can use ThinkForge offline for up to 30 days, after which you must connect to the internet and sign in again.
An expired trial, deactivated machine, unresolved activation limit, refunded purchase, authentication failure, or expired offline authorization may restrict access until corrected. Licensing restrictions do not give us ownership of Your Content or permission to delete your ordinary local project files.
We do not guarantee uninterrupted availability of the website, accounts, verification servers, or other online services. Maintenance, network failures, security incidents, service-provider outages, and other disruptions can occur. If a valid purchase cannot be verified, contact support so we can investigate.
17. Permanent shutdown of version 1 licensing
If we permanently discontinue the ThinkForge licensing service required to use purchased Desktop version 1 licenses, we will make an installable version 1 release available that can operate without ThinkForge account or license-server verification.
For a planned permanent shutdown, we will provide reasonable advance notice through the website and, where practicable, by email to account holders, and make that release available before the shutdown. For an unexpected permanent shutdown, we will make it available as soon as reasonably practicable.
We will also release the ThinkForge-owned source code for that version under Apache License 2.0 or another license approved by the Open Source Initiative and suitable for the release. Third-party components and assets remain subject to their existing licenses; we can grant only rights that we own or are authorized to grant.
The shutdown release need not retain third-party features that depend on an unavailable service or permission. It does not include a promise to continue development, operate cloud services, or provide future support. A temporary outage, maintenance period, or interruption while we restore service is not a permanent shutdown.
The license accompanying the open-source release will govern that release. This shutdown commitment cannot be removed from an already purchased version 1 license through a later unilateral policy change.
18. Updates and support
We may release bug fixes, compatibility updates, or security updates for version 1. Version 1 updates we release are included in the purchased license. We may recommend or require an available security update where necessary to protect the Product or its online services.
We do not promise a particular development schedule, feature roadmap, response time, or support duration unless we expressly agree to it in writing. Contact [email protected] for support. Keep reasonable evidence of your purchase.
A description of a proposed feature, a roadmap, or a future plan does not amend the purchased license or guarantee delivery. This does not limit remedies for a Product that fails to meet an express representation made as part of your purchase.
19. Suspension and termination
You may stop using the Products at any time. Uninstalling the software does not automatically cancel an account, delete local data, or create a refund right.
We may suspend access to the extent reasonably necessary to address a material breach of these Terms, payment fraud, unauthorized access, a security threat, or a legal requirement. Where feasible and appropriate, we will explain the reason and give you a reasonable opportunity to correct the issue before terminating a paid license.
Immediate action may be necessary for an active threat, fraud, serious misuse, or a legal restriction. Contact [email protected] if you believe a suspension or termination was mistaken.
A paid license may be terminated for a material breach that remains uncorrected after a reasonable opportunity to cure, or for serious misconduct that reasonably requires immediate termination. Termination does not override mandatory refund rights, lawful third-party component permissions, or rights already granted under a separate open-source license.
We will not revoke a paid version 1 license merely because you decline a later change that would reduce the purchased rights protected by these Terms. A good-faith complaint, review, privacy request, or assertion of a legal right is not grounds for termination.
Provisions that need to continue after termination include ownership, third-party license rights, responsibility for Your Content, payment obligations already incurred, the refund provisions where applicable, limitations of liability, indemnification where applicable, and dispute provisions.
20. Warranty disclaimer
To the extent permitted by applicable law, the Products are provided as is and as available. We disclaim implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement, and do not promise uninterrupted, error-free, or perfectly secure operation or accurate AI output.
We do not guarantee that every defect can be corrected, that the Products will meet every individual requirement, or that a file, recording, edit, backup, recovery feature, or automated action will be saved or completed successfully. You should evaluate suitability during the trial, maintain separate backups, and review generated or automated results.
General support advice and comments about proposed features do not amend these Terms or promise a particular result. An additional warranty must be expressly identified and agreed in writing, except where applicable law gives binding effect to a statement or requires a warranty.
This disclaimer does not negate an express promise in these Terms, an express representation that forms part of your purchase, or a statutory guarantee or remedy that cannot lawfully be excluded.
21. Limitation of liability
To the extent permitted by applicable law, ThinkForge and its licensors, suppliers, personnel, and contractors will not be liable for loss, deletion, overwriting, corruption, or unavailability of Your Content or other data resulting from installation, updating, use, or inability to use the Products, or for costs of recovering, reconstructing, replacing, or re-entering that content or data.
This data-loss exclusion includes claims arising from software defects, interrupted saves, failed imports or conversions, local storage or device failures, browser-data removal, connected AI clients, authorized tools or automated actions, third-party integrations, and interruptions to account access or license verification. To the extent permitted by law, it applies to claims based on breach of contract or ordinary negligence in the operation or provision of the Products, subject to the exceptions below.
To the extent permitted by applicable law, we will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or loss of profits, business opportunities, or goodwill arising from the Products. Your separate backup responsibility and these exclusions do not remove responsibility for our conduct where applicable law prevents that limitation.
To the extent permitted by applicable law, our combined total liability for all claims arising from or related to these Terms or the Products will not exceed the greater of US $100 or the amount you paid for ThinkForge Products during the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim. Payments collected by an authorized merchant of record for our Products count toward that amount.
These limitations do not restrict liability for fraud, willful or reckless misconduct, gross negligence, death or personal injury where liability cannot be excluded, or any other liability that applicable law prohibits us from limiting. They do not limit an express refund obligation under these Terms, a mandatory consumer remedy, or a remedy that cannot lawfully be limited for failure to perform an express promise.
The monetary liability cap is intended to apply independently of the data-loss and other damage exclusions, to the extent permitted by law. If a particular exclusion is unenforceable, the cap remains applicable where the law permits it.
The limitations apply regardless of the legal theory of a claim and only to the extent enforceable. Where a limitation cannot apply, liability is governed by the applicable law.
22. Responsibility for third-party claims
To the extent permitted by law, you agree to indemnify ThinkForge and its personnel or contractors against reasonable losses, liabilities, and legal costs resulting from a third-party claim caused by Your Content infringing another person's rights, your unlawful conduct, or your intentional or materially wrongful misuse of the Products.
This obligation applies only to the extent the claim is attributable to your conduct. It does not apply to ordinary authorized use, claims caused by our fault, or obligations that applicable consumer law prevents us from imposing.
We will notify you of a covered claim and provide reasonable cooperation. Any obligation to defend a claim must be carried out through an agreed, reasonable defense process. Neither party may agree to a settlement imposing an admission, a payment, or an ongoing obligation on the other without that party's written consent.
23. Changes to these Terms
We reserve the right to update these Terms from time to time. We will publish the revised version with its effective date and identify material changes. Where reasonably practicable, we will give reasonable advance notice of material changes through email, an in-app notice, or another prominent notice.
Changes required by law or to address an urgent security issue may take effect sooner, with notice as soon as reasonably practicable. That exception does not permit unrelated retroactive changes to purchased rights.
Changes apply prospectively. A unilateral update will not reduce the version 1 rights already purchased, add recurring charges to a one-time purchase, retroactively remove a refund right that applied to an earlier purchase, remove the permanent-licensing-shutdown commitment, or impose a new dispute procedure on an existing dispute.
If a material change requires your agreement, we will obtain that agreement before applying it to you. Continued use constitutes acceptance only where the law permits that method and the notice clearly explains the action that signifies acceptance. If you decline a change requiring agreement, the earlier terms continue to govern your existing paid version 1 license rights unless another lawful basis applies.
The Privacy Policy may be updated separately, with an updated date and notice of material changes. A policy update does not automatically authorize a materially different use of data collected under an earlier promise. We will obtain consent where required by applicable law.
24. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by Wisconsin law, except to the extent mandatory law applicable to you requires otherwise. This choice does not remove consumer protections that cannot lawfully be waived.
You may contact [email protected] to try to resolve a dispute informally. Contacting support is encouraged but is not a prerequisite to exercising a legal right or seeking an urgent remedy.
Subject to applicable law and any mandatory right to bring a claim elsewhere, disputes arising from these Terms or the Products must be brought in the state courts of Wisconsin or, where federal jurisdiction exists, the federal courts in Wisconsin. You and we consent to those courts' jurisdiction to the extent permitted by law.
These Terms do not require arbitration, waive access to an eligible small-claims court, or prevent a complaint to a regulator.
25. General terms
These Terms, the applicable purchase terms disclosed at checkout, and any expressly agreed supplemental license terms form the agreement for the relevant Product. The Privacy Policy provides the notice governing personal-data practices. Separate third-party licenses govern their components and are not replaced by this agreement.
If a provision is unenforceable, it will be limited or severed to the extent permitted by law, and the remaining provisions will continue. A failure or delay in enforcing a provision does not waive it.
You may not assign an individual license except as these Terms or mandatory law permit. We may transfer operation of ThinkForge and assign the related contractual rights and obligations to a successor, including a subsequently formed entity or a purchaser of the business, provided that the transfer preserves existing purchased rights and legally required privacy protections. We will give notice of a material change in the operator.
Mandatory legal rights take precedence over a conflicting provision. An extraordinary event outside a party's reasonable control may excuse a delay only to the extent permitted by law; it does not cancel an accrued refund obligation or authorize removal of your purchased version 1 rights.
