Getting Started with ThinkForge Chat

If you've ever lost a good AI answer in a wall of scrolling text, this extension exists for you. Get from install to useful in a few minutes.

ThinkForge Chat doesn't try to make AI smarter. It makes you more effective by turning messy conversations into something you can move through, tag, and reuse instead of re-asking the same questions over and over.

Install the Extension

Install ThinkForge Chat from the Chrome Web Store. Once it's installed, you'll see the 🔥 icon in your browser toolbar.

That's it. No setup wizard. No configuration rabbit hole.

Supported browsers

Any Chromium-based browser: Chrome, Edge, Brave, Arc, Opera, Vivaldi. If it runs Chrome extensions, it works.

Open ThinkForge Chat

You can open ThinkForge Chat in two ways:

  • Click the 🔥 icon in your browser toolbar
  • Right-click on a supported AI chat page and select ThinkForge Chat

The side panel opens on the right. This panel is your control center.

The Three Tabs (What Actually Matters)

Navigator

This is the game changer. ThinkForge Chat auto-detects question → answer pairs in your AI chats and numbers them. No more endless scrolling — just click any point in the list and jump straight to it.

Organize

Sort your chats into projects and folders so they don't disappear into browser history. Finally, related work stays together.

Settings

Visual tweaks and account controls. You probably won't hang out here, but it's there when you need it.

Your First Useful Workflow

1
Open any supported AI platform (ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, etc.)
2
Start or open a conversation
3
Open ThinkForge Chat
4
Use the Navigator to jump between questions and answers
5
When something matters, tag it immediately

That's the habit that changes everything.

The Floating Navigator

If there's one thing that flips ThinkForge Chat from "nice" to "essential," it's this:

Tag things the moment they matter.
Not later. Not when you have time. Right then.

That one habit turns scattered AI replies into reusable knowledge.

You'll see a small floating panel on the chat page. That's your fast lane.

  • Jump up and down between Q&A pairs
  • Instantly see where you are in the conversation
  • Add tags on the fly — no side panel needed

Move it wherever you want. The position sticks per platform, so you're not constantly dragging it around.

Tags: Use Them Early

Tags are the backbone of ThinkForge Chat.

Every time a chat gives you something useful — a solution, an explanation, a decision — tag it right away.

That's how you stop losing progress. That's how you build something you can come back to.

You Don't Need a Perfect System

You don't need the perfect setup — just any system you'll actually use.

Tag it. Save it. Move on.

That's the rhythm that turns chaos into memory.

Projects & Folders (Use Them If You Want)

Projects let you separate major areas of your work or life.
Folders group conversations inside a project if you like things tidy.

But here's the truth: you don't need folders to stay organized.

ThinkForge Chat is built around tags — fast, flexible, and forgettable. You can tag a conversation with anything that matters (even multiple things) and let the system handle the sorting.

Prefer a "bucket" approach? Just use a single default folder and let tags do the organizing.

Just remember: nothing is saved until you save it.

What to Explore Next

Once the basics click, these features start paying off fast:

  • Tag-based search across all conversations
  • Saving parts of chats as Forge Docs
  • Exporting your data as JSON
  • Sending context between AI platforms

Each of those exists to solve one problem: stop losing work you already did.

If Something Feels Off

If the floating menu doesn't appear or navigation looks wrong:

  • Refresh the page
  • Make sure you're on a supported AI site
  • Confirm the extension is enabled

If it still misbehaves, check the Troubleshooting guide.

You don't need to "learn" ThinkForge Chat. Use it once or twice on a long conversation and the value becomes obvious.
