Side Panel

The Think Forge side panel is the extension's main browser interface. It runs beside the active page and has four tabs: Navigator, Organize, Tools, and Settings.

Open it from Chrome's side-panel selector. If the extension toolbar icon opens Quick Tag Lookup instead, use the side-panel selector for this interface.

Navigator works on the eight supported AI-chat sites. It has Q&A and Bookmarks views.

Q&A view

The Q&A list is extracted from the current page. Each row shows question and answer previews. Incomplete pairs may show an awaiting-response state, although streaming detection varies by platform.

  • Select a row to scroll the page to that exchange.
  • Point at the row's content to show a preview tooltip over the page.
  • Use the send action to open the cross-platform branch window.
  • Right-click a row to choose a quick branch template.
  • Use Refresh to force a new extraction.

Navigation searches for question text rather than relying on a saved position. This is more tolerant of chat pages that recycle content, but a very long conversation can still have messages that are not currently present on the page.

The panel updates when the page reports a change. While it is visible, it also re-checks every two minutes as a fallback.

Bookmarks view

Select text on a supported page and use the Think Forge Chrome context menu to add a bookmark. Bookmarks are associated with the page URL. Select a bookmark to scroll to its text, or use its remove action to delete it.

Bookmarks are browser-side organization data unless a desktop-routed operation explicitly saves related content into the active ThinkForge project.

Organize

In the Desktop Edition, Organize is a handoff to Project Navigator. Create folders, move files, manage project tags, and organize workspaces in the desktop app.

Tools

Tools is available when TF Desktop integration is enabled:

  • Agent Dashboard — Opens the desktop tool dashboard.
  • Search SK Memory — Opens the desktop project search interface.
  • Chrome Context Menu — Opens a desktop folder picker. Up to 20 supported text documents from the selected folder are added below Think Forge's Chrome right-click menu as Insert into chat actions on supported AI sites.

The Tools status bar distinguishes Disabled, Not Connected, and Connected. Desktop buttons stay unavailable until the desktop connection is live.

Settings

General

Clear all extension data resets Chrome-local extension state. It does not delete ThinkForge project files on the desktop.

Appearance

Choose Light, Auto, or Dark and an available theme preset. Themes apply to extension pages and windows.

TF Desktop

Enable or disable desktop integration and inspect connection diagnostics. Integration is off by default. When connected, the card reports the desktop version and readiness for localhost:19222.

Disabling integration stops desktop discovery and desktop-routed commands. Local Navigator and bookmark features remain available.

Sign-in Status

The panel contains account status controls, but it always shows the main tabs and does not gate them behind sign-in. An account is not required for the local desktop beta workflow.

Quick Tag Lookup

Quick Tag Lookup is a separate extension window, not a side-panel tab. Open it with Ctrl+Shift+K on Windows or Command+Shift+K on macOS.

What Is Not in the Side Panel

There is no in-page floating command bar. Page capture and other desktop-initiated browser actions are triggered from Power Strip or supported desktop controls.
