Application shortcuts work while ThinkForge is active, including when a document editor has focus. Global hotkeys let you use Power Strip and Smart Clipboard from other applications.
Use the application defaults
The default bindings are:
- Ctrl+N — New Document
- Ctrl+O — Open Document
- Ctrl+S — Save Now
- Ctrl+W — Close the active tab
- Ctrl+Shift+P — Toggle Power Strip
- Ctrl+, — Open Settings
Save Now saves the active document immediately, even when automatic saving is disabled. The configurable application shortcuts do not include Save As.
These defaults use Control on Mac as well as Windows. They are not automatically changed to Command shortcuts.
Use global hotkeys
The default global bindings are:
- Win+Shift+P — Toggle Power Strip
- Win+Shift+F — Run the first configured Toggle Floating Navigator command
- Win+Shift+V — Open the Smart Clipboard overlay at the pointer
On Mac, the Win modifier shown in a binding means Command, and Alt means Option.
A Power Strip command hotkey performs the same action as clicking that command.
Change a shortcut
Open Settings → Hotkeys. Select a field and press the combination you want. Backspace or Delete clears it.
Changes save and activate immediately. Reset to Defaults also applies immediately. Global shortcuts need a modifier; a conflicting or reserved combination is refused while the previous working binding remains active.
To assign an eligible top-level Power Strip command directly, right-click it and choose Assign Global Hotkey.... Drop-only commands and stacked child commands cannot be assigned this way.
Open help for the current control
Hover or focus a supported control, then press F1. The Help window opens with a question for that control and relevant User Docs results.
F1 has no effect when no supported control is active.
Use editing and popup shortcuts
The document and code editors have their own editing shortcuts. Available commands and bindings vary by editor and platform; the Hotkeys page does not remap them.
In Quick Note, Ctrl+Enter saves the note. Escape closes Smart Clipboard and many popup dialogs. Enter confirms input in name, tag, and folder-creation fields.
The separate Think Forge Chat Chrome extension registers Ctrl+Shift+K, or Cmd+Shift+K on Mac, for Quick Tag Lookup. This is a Chrome shortcut, separate from desktop shortcuts.
