A tool contains a reusable workflow. A deployment places that tool somewhere you can configure and run it. Each deployment can have its own context, settings, AI model, and triggers.
Tools Page
The Tools page is the main place to find, configure, run, and manage deployments.
Page Actions
The top toolbar contains:
- + New Tool — opens the conversational tool creator. It creates a reusable tool; it does not automatically deploy it.
- Add from Library — selects a saved tool, deployment, or automation and places a copy in the open project.
- More — contains Refresh tools. Refresh reloads the current tool and automation inventory without creating or changing anything.
Project
Project shows deployments owned by the open project. The heading names that project so you can see which inventory is active.
Use Project when you want to configure or run Tools that belong to the project you are working in.
Global
Global shows deployments from every project and identifies the owning project on each row.
Project and Global change only the inventory you are viewing. They do not choose where + New Tool creates a definition, and they do not change the destination of Add from Library. Add from Library always places the selection in the open project.
All Interfaces
All interfaces shows the supported deployment interfaces together: Tools page, Power strip, Ribbon, and Project folder. Results are grouped by interface so you can see where each placement is available.
The count reflects the current Project or Global inventory and any active deployed-Tool search.
Tools Page Deployments
Tools page shows placements available on the main Tools page. Select this filter when you want the flat list of deployments managed and run from this page.
Power Strip Deployments
Power strip shows placements added as Power Strip commands. These are separate placements and can keep settings that differ from a Tools-page placement of the same reusable Tool.
Ribbon Deployments
Ribbon shows Tool placements pinned for Ribbon access. Pinning creates a Ribbon placement; unpinning removes that placement without deleting the reusable Tool.
Project Folder Deployments
Project folder shows Tool placements attached to project folders. Project Navigator, Power Strip Folder panels, and linked Mind Map nodes can use the same project-folder placement.
Dashboard and Tasks are not included in these filters in the current version.
Search Deployed Tools
Select the magnifying glass beside the Deployed Tools heading to open Search deployed tools by purpose. Describe what the tool does and press Enter.
Search is available only in Project view and searches indexed deployments in the open project's SK Memory. It does not search every saved tool and does not fall back to name matching. Clear or close the field to restore the full Project inventory.
Selected Tool
Selecting a tool opens its inspector.
- Run starts the tool with the deployment's saved context. While the tool is running, the same action becomes Cancel.
- Change model appears only for tools that use AI.
- Documents or folders manages primary input.
- Optional guidance stores secondary reference material. Reference content is not read during the current beta, so required material belongs in Documents or folders.
- Save New Files To chooses the destination for a tool that supports a configurable output folder.
- Save Location is read-only when the tool does not use a configurable destination.
- Clear output clears the displayed steps and output text. It does not delete files the tool created.
Select any context slot to open the context editor. Project Navigator remains available so documents and folders can be dragged into the editor. Selecting a saved row shows a preview; the remove action deletes that entry immediately.
Tool Settings, Schedule, and More
Tool settings changes only the selected deployment. Other deployments of the same tool keep their own settings.
Schedule opens the add-schedule dialog. The full Schedules & triggers section lists schedules and folder watches and lets you pause, resume, or remove them.
The selected tool's More menu contains:
- Rename — changes this deployment's display name.
- Duplicate — creates an independent Tools-page copy with (Copy) in its name. Copied triggers start paused.
- Copy to Tools — appears when the selected deployment is on another surface and creates a Tools-page copy.
- Pin to Ribbon or Unpin from Ribbon — manages quick access on the Ribbon.
- Open in separate window — opens the normal runner for this deployment.
- View tool definition — shows the reusable workflow behind the deployment.
- Remove from Tools or Remove from — removes only that deployment, not the reusable tool.
Details expands technical identifiers, placement, category, memory and logging values, and tags. You normally do not need these values to run the tool.
Selected Automation
An automation inspector keeps Run visible, lists Tools in this automation in execution order, and gives every connected tool its own Settings action.
For an automation on the Tools page, More contains Rename, Duplicate, and Remove from Tools. An automation selected from another surface offers Copy to Tools. These actions affect the selected automation deployment, not its original canvas.
Power Strip
A Power Strip Agent command runs a bound tool deployment.
- Select the command to open its sidecar and run without dropped input.
- Drop files, folders, or text on the command to use them as input.
- Configure the deployment from the sidecar.
- Runs are headless, so approval requests are confirmed automatically.
A Browser Agent captures the active Chrome page and gives it to the bound tool.
Ribbon
Pin a deployment from its More menu for quick Ribbon access. The Ribbon receives its own placement with a copy of the selected deployment's configuration.
Mobile Dashboard
The Mobile Dashboard can run active deployments, provide temporary context overrides, show progress and results, request cancellation, and present approval requests. ThinkForge Desktop remains responsible for project files and execution.
Chrome Extension
The extension's Tools tab is a desktop launcher. It does not provide a browser-native tool inventory or result viewer. An extension command can start a tool with captured page or text content, but the response only confirms that execution started.
ThinkForge MCP
ThinkForge MCP does not currently list or run user-created tools.
Contextual Help
Controls with contextual Help show a short explanation when focused or hovered. Press F1 to search User Docs for that control. Current Tools-page Help targets include Schedule, Run, and Documents or folders.
