This document describes Power Strip's command catalog and how the surface behaves.
Layout and Display
Power Strip can be vertical or horizontal. Full mode uses larger command buttons; Compact mode uses smaller ones. A divider separates the configured commands from the Customize button. The strip does not insert category dividers among command groups.
A drag handle repositions the window. Right-click it for display-mode and command-label controls, the current orientation switch, and Lock Position or Unlock Position. Right-click remains available while movement is locked. The strip is topmost during normal use and can temporarily step behind other windows during a drag from a sidecar.
Three display modes are available:
- Full
- Compact
- Peek
Peek collapses the surface and expands it while engaged, then collapses after a short delay. A global visibility toggle can hide the window entirely.
Activity Control and Cards
A fixed Activity bell sits after the drag handle and before configurable command slots. It cannot be reordered or removed. Selecting it pins open the activity cards; selecting it again or using the visible close X hides the cards without stopping a run.
The control pulses while work is active and shows unread completion or failure state. Each Agent run stays on one card with its name, current step, progress, elapsed time, available output, and final result. Select a card to expand its recorded detail. Ordinary Power Strip results appear in the same surface.
Right-clicking the bell opens only Activity placement choices: Power Strip, Left, and Right. Activity history belongs to the current application session and is cleared on restart.
Default Commands
A new or reset profile contains:

There are 31 commands available in total, across desktop actions, panels, and browser actions.
Direct Commands
Quick Note
Opens a small note editor with an optional title. Saving creates a Markdown document under the active project's _captured folder. The saved document can be passed to an after agent hook.
Save Clipboard
Saves the current clipboard to _captured unless the slot is bound to another folder. The order of preference is copied files and folders, then an image, then text. Text that resolves to a local file path or image URL is handled as that source; other text is saved as Markdown.
When captured text has no explicit source filename or title, ThinkForge names the file from the first meaningful line — stripping leading Markdown punctuation, making it filesystem-safe, and capping it at 80 characters. The same fallback applies to Create Doc From Clipboard, text drops and pastes, Smart Clipboard saves, and other untitled text paths. Browser Save Chat, Capture Page, and Capture Selection normally supply the source chat or page title, so that title takes priority.
The command is labeled Save Clipboard, not Capture Clipboard.
Create Doc From Clipboard
Prompts for or uses a bound folder, saves the clipboard there, and opens the first saved document.
Known gap: this command advertises a Content Created hook, but the hook does not currently fire.
Drop File
Accepts dropped local files or text and saves them to _captured. Text can resolve to a file or image URL. This command does not copy dropped directories.
Toggle Floating Navigator
Shows or hides the separate Floating Navigator window.
Search Memory
Opens the project search experience.
Cluster Map
Opens the cluster visualization for indexed project material.
Open Project
Brings ThinkForge forward on the Projects page.
Tasks
Opens the task board for the active project.
Sidecar Commands
These commands open Power Strip sidecars:

AI Activity is an addable command and is not part of the default profile. Folder, Agent, and Automation allow multiple configured instances. Panel capabilities are not uniform; see Sidecar Panels.
Browser Commands
Power Strip has 11 Chrome-aware commands:

They appear when Chrome is the foreground application, whether or not the extension is connected. See Browser Commands for their behavior.
Multiple Instances and Stacks
Only Folder, Agent, Automation, and Browser Agent can add another instance.
The command context menu uses Add Another . The added slot becomes a child of the original. Hovering a parent for about a quarter second, or dragging over it, opens the child flyout. Right-clicking a child keeps the flyout available while its menu is open; this is not a permanent pin.
Drag and Drop
Power Strip accepts drops directly on supported buttons:
- Drop File saves files or text
- Folder saves files or text into its bound folder
- Agent runs the bound agent with dropped files, folders, or text as context
- Automation runs the bound automation with dropped context
- Browser Agent can have another configured instance but takes its primary input from Chrome
Several panels allow dragging documents or files out to another application: Recents, Smart Clipboard, Pinned, Folder, Workspaces, Doc Search, and the document or folder entries in Shortcuts. Agent and Automation panels are not drag-out lists.
External file rows advertise copy-only native file data, so dropping them into another application never authorizes moving the source. Dropping a file into the folder it already occupies is skipped instead of creating a numbered duplicate.
Full opacity on drag is a global setting that makes the target surface easier to see during an external drag.
Command Labels and Context Menus
Command labels can be enabled globally. Label windows are separate from the main strip and update as commands move or visibility changes.
The strip context menu exposes:
- Full, Compact, and Peek mode
- Command labels
- Vertical or horizontal orientation
- Lock position
- Preview on Save
- Reset position
- Settings
The drag-handle menu exposes display mode, command labels, orientation, and position locking.
A command's own context menu varies by type. It can include binding, configuration, agent-hook, removal, or "add another" actions. Browser Save Chat and Capture Page expose browser-command settings.
Foreground Profiles
Profiles are keyed by the foreground application's executable name, with a wildcard default. Power Strip checks the foreground application about three times a second and waits for two consistent observations before switching.
On a confirmed switch, Power Strip saves the outgoing position and restores the incoming position, display mode, and locked state. It also updates browser-command visibility. Other stored profile settings are not all reapplied, so do not expect every setting or command arrangement to switch live per application.
Preview on Save
Preview on Save is toggled from the strip context menu and applies to supported save, capture, and drop paths. Browser imports show the preview after the captured document reaches the desktop.
Requirements and Boundaries
Local commands work entirely through the ThinkForge desktop app. Browser commands require the Chrome extension connection.
Power Strip is distinct from:
- Floating Navigator, a separate project-navigation window
- The main ThinkForge window, which remains the full project and document workspace
